Dr. Angus is a physician and researcher focusing on optimal care of the critically ill. He currently holds the title of Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Department of Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh where he is also the founder and director of the CRISMA (Clinical Research, Investigation, and Systems Modeling of Acute Illness) Center. CRISMA is a large, NIH-funded multidisciplinary research center with a broad portfolio of clinical, translational and health services research studies of sepsis, trauma, and acute respiratory failure. Dr. Angus has published several hundred papers, is the section editor for “Caring for the Critically Ill” at JAMA, and is the recipient of numerous national and international awards and honors in his field.
