Rob works as an intensivist in the Regional Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, is a council member of the Northern Ireland Intensive Care Society and a strong advocate of open access to scientific advancement. He is the creator of Critical Care Reviews, a free educational website providing the world’s largest structured collection of open access critical care papers. His weekly newsletter, containing links to the most relevant critical care publications in the preceding seven days, is read by thousands globally.  Each January Rob hosts the annual not-for-profit Critical Care Reviews Meeting, gathering chief investigators for some of the biggest studies of the previous year to discuss their work. In June 2014, along with Andrew Ferguson, he started Critical Care Horizons, a genuine open access critical care opinion-based journal, free to publish with and free to read. The first issue is due to publish this Summer.
