Jecko Thachil is Consultant Haematologist at the Manchester Royal Infirmary working as a specialist who deals with bleeding and clotting problems in various specialities of internal medicine. His special interest is in the mechanisms of thrombosis in different clinical situations, especially infection and trauma. His research work primary focuses on the role of platelets in this scenario; his group have specifically looked at how platelets interact with white cells in inflammation and sepsis.
He also serves as a Chair for the Committee for Disseminated Intra-vascular Coagulation of the international Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis and is a member of several national and international working parties. He has also edited books and written several book chapters and has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers on these topics. He also serves as reviewer for 25 journals.
