Nandan Gautam is a Consultant Physician and Intensivist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. He is also the Associate Medical Director for clinical standards and governance.
His clinical and academic interest is in improvements in systems and processes to identify at an earlier stage, patients who go on to need organ support.
In other areas, he has been an enthusiastic practitioner of acute care ultrasound for many years and has contributed to local and national guidelines on training and delivery. He has helped to establish a number of simulation centres and courses in immersive simulation. In addition, he is a strong advocate of Physician Associates and Advanced Critical Care Practitioners.
Dr Gautam is married to a consultant in infectious diseases and has an 8-year-old daughter, both contributing in equal measure to much joy but less hair.
